These billboards will target you as you drive by! by Matt McFarland; money.cnn.com

Billboards may never be the same.

By early fall, a billboard in Tokyo will automatically identify the make and model of vehicles driving by it to display a targeted advertisement.

"The ad could come up with 'Hey you in the Mercedes, you could be driving this [instead],'" said Paul Turner, chief marketing officer with Cloudian, which is working with the Japanese company Dentsu on the project.

A camera on the billboard will look hundreds of meters down the expressway to identify vehicles and present a corresponding ad for about five seconds. By targeting ads to specific types of vehicles, the companies should be able to charge a higher rate to advertisers.

Highly-targeted ads are the norm while we browse the web and use apps, but such approaches have not largely entered the broader world yet. This approach, which is reminiscent of the sci-fi thriller Minority Report, is a reminder of how digital technologies and the personalization they offer will increasingly creep into all aspects of our daily lives.

The two companies ran a pilot test in Japan earlier this year and said they were able to recognize the make, model and year of cars with 94% accuracy.

But don't be surprised if one day while driving your old car, a billboard recommends updating to this year's model.

These clothes can wirelessly charge your phone! by Parija Kavilanz; tech.cnn.com

Less than a year after the Kickstarter campaign for his BauBax jacket raised a whopping $9.2 million, he's debuting his next project -- clothes that wirelessly charge your devices.

With this line, his Seattle startup Baubax is turning jackets, jeans and shorts into mobile charging stations.

The clothing, which is machine washable, has copper wire built into it and a wireless charging pad that's stitched inside a pocket.

You charge an iPhone by putting it into a BauBax iPhone case and slipping it into the pocket. Android phones don't require the case because they have built-in wireless charging capability. The power source is a battery bank that fits into a wallet you carry in the clothes.

Sanghavi said the battery bank can provide one full charge to a smartphone, two charges to a smartwatch and four to bluetooth earphones.

The battery bank can be charged with a special BauBax charging pad. It takes two to four hours to recharge the battery bank.

The company expects the clothing to be ready for consumers by January 2017. However, the products come with a caveat: people with pacemakers shouldn't use them because the electromagnetic fields may interfere with the pacemakers.

Offsite_Backup_Milwaukee.jpg

Are you backing up your Data?

If you are unsure if your data is being backed up routinely or accurately, now is the time to find out. Don't be left scrambling to recover your data when a server fails or a disaster occurs!

A regular backup of your data is extremely important to keep business moving forward. In the past, it was the norm for companies to have backed up their data using magnetic tapes which were then typically stored off-site. While a usable method for incrementally backing up data off-site, this process is tedious and time-consuming. For small businesses without a dedicated IT staff, maintaining an up-to-date tape library can be easily overlooked and can result in permanent data loss.

Small to medium businesses can suffer severe repercussions if their critical data is not securely backed up at an off-site location. A fire, power surge, hardware failure, or even basic operator error can wipe out years of data.

To quickly recover from hardware failures, viruses, or accidental deletion, it is important to have an on-site backup in addition to an off-site copy. This backup allows businesses to quickly recover from data loss due to common causes. When creating a business continuity plan, it’s important to take both on-site and off-site backup into consideration.

If you are looking for options to backup your data, we can help. There are many different devices and options to choose from that may fit your needs, your budget and future growth. Contact us if you would like more information!

How fast is your internet speed?

If you are wondering if your internet is running slow or if you are worried you are paying for internet speed that is inaccurate, run this test

So how does it work? The test sends and receives bursts of random data for duration of the test. It calculates the upload and download speeds of your connection, by measuring how many "bits" of the data were transferred during the test duration.

Download Speed: The speed of the connection when downloading from the Internet to your computer.

Upload Speed: The speed of the connection when uploading data from your computer to another computer somewhere on the Internet.

Check with your internet provider to see if you are using the right amount of speed necessary to run you business! You may need to upgrade to a fiber optic for the fastest speed possible!
