Welcome ot the April edition of the River Run Tech Flash. Here is where you will find tips, tricks and IT info to keep you up and running.
River Run will be participating in a few different events in May. Mark your calendars and swing by our events! We would love to chat with you!
Windows 10-should you upgrade?
Microsoft is making a major push to get users to upgrade their operating systems to Windows 10. But before you download the free upgrade, you may want to consider if this OS is right for you.
While Windows 10 claims to have a strong application compatibility, there are still some programs that cannot be run on Windows 10 and should be tested prior to upgrading. Our technicians at River Run have been helping our clients install Windows 10 and can assist with verifying compatibility prior to installation.
If you are considering purchasing new equipment towards the end of the year, all of the desktops and laptops will come pre-installed with Windows 10. So it may make more sense to wait for the new machines instead of upgrading.
Technical support continues to be offered for Windows 7 & 8 which means you can continue to contact them with support needs or patches. But in due time, that support will not be available.
The new Windows 10 does offer some great new features and benefits that improve your experience! With the addition of virtual desktops, Cortana-personal assistant, and Microsoft Edge browser, the new OS is fully secured and easy to transition its users.
Before you download the free upgrade, give us a call to discuss. We can assist in making sure this is the best fit for your system and confirm compatibility with your applications.
