Cybercriminals continue to find ways to threaten the security and safety of your computer and network. Not only do criminals target users through websites, they also call you posing as a Microsoft Technician. We want to make sure that you do not fall victim to this crime!

If you receive a phone call from someone stating they are a Microsoft Technician or Microsoft Support:

  • Do not purchase any software or services.

  • Ask if there is a fee or subscription associated with the "service." If there is, hang up.

  • Never give control of your computer to a third party unless you can confirm that it is a legitimate representative of a computer support team with whom you are already a customer.

  • Take the caller's information down and immediately report it to your local authorities.

  • Never provide your credit card or financial information to someone claiming to be from Microsoft tech support.

Neither Microsoft nor their partners make unsolicited phone calls (also known as cold calls) to charge you for computer security or software fixes. If you feel uncertain whether it is truly from someone at Microsoft, don’t take the risk. Hang up the phone and contact our Support Desk team to determine if this was actually a scam.
