FROM RIVER RUN COMPUTERS to RIVER RUN: REFLECTING GROWTH, INNOVATION, AND A BROADER VISION

When River Run was founded in 1993, the name River Run Computers perfectly described what we did. In those early days, computers were at the heart of every solution we provided to Milwaukee-area businesses. From setting up hardware, designing servers, to troubleshooting desktop issues, we were the go-to experts for navigating the digital frontier. But as technology has evolved, so too has River Run.

Today, the name River Run Computers no longer captures the breadth and depth of what we do. That is why we simplified our name to just River Run—a reflection of the journey we have been on, the services we provide, and the future we are building alongside our clients.

A Journey of Growth and Expansion

Over the years, technology has grown far beyond desktops and hardware and a “break/fix” model. Businesses now rely on secure networks, cloud-based infrastructure, advanced cybersecurity, and tailored IT strategies to keep you up and running. River Run has evolved alongside these advancements, offering solutions that extend far beyond simply "computers."

From managing IT environments to implementing cloud solutions and safeguarding businesses with cutting-edge cybersecurity, our expertise has expanded to cover the full spectrum of modern technology needs. Our new name reflects that growth. We are not just a provider of computer services; we are a comprehensive IT partner dedicated to helping your business succeed in a constantly changing landscape.

Why the Change Matters

Dropping "Computers" from our name is more than a rebranding decision—it was a natural transition about who we are today and what we do for our clients. Technology is no longer confined to a single device or platform. It touches every aspect of business operations, from communication to data storage, and even customer experiences.

By transitioning to River Run, we are emphasizing our role as strategic advisors, innovators, and partners who help businesses navigate the complexities of technology. Our focus has shifted from just solving problems to proactively enabling growth, security, and efficiency.

At River Run, we believe that growth is a continuous process. Our name change is just one example of how we adapt to meet the needs of our clients and the demands of a rapidly changing world.

Rooted in Our Past, Invested in Your Future

Although our name has evolved, our commitment to the Milwaukee community and our clients remains the same. Since 1993, we have built trusted relationships with businesses across the region by providing reliable, personalized service. That legacy continues under the name River Run.

Our roots in the community give us a unique perspective. We understand the challenges and opportunities faced by local businesses and are dedicated to creating solutions that drive success—not just today but for the long term.

Our Name Sake

The name River Run was an evergreen name chosen between the original owners. One loved to run and the other has fondness for water and water activities. They added ‘computers’ at the end so people knew what they did in 1993. It was around 2019, the ‘computers’ part was dropped, giving us the name we have today. River Run.

We Are Not the Only Ones Who Have Changed our Name

When Apple was founded in 1976, its full name—Apple Computer, Inc.—clearly reflected its focus. Apple revolutionized the personal computer industry with groundbreaking products like the Apple I and Macintosh, firmly establishing itself as a leader in computing. However, as technology and consumer needs evolved, so did Apple.

In 2007, during the launch of the first iPhone, Apple announced a pivotal change: it was dropping Computer from its name, becoming simply Apple Inc. This shift was more than cosmetic—it signaled a fundamental transformation in the company's vision.

While both Apple and River Run are deeply rooted in technology, our paths and purposes are vastly different. Apple transformed consumer electronics; River Run focuses on empowering businesses through IT. Beyond the evolution of our names, the comparison ends—our journeys and missions are uniquely our own.
