With an increase in the frequency and sophistication of network attacks, enterprise security needs have evolved. In addition, many governmental compliance regulations such as the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and the Sarbanes Oxley Act mandate that network security be assured as part of the day-to-day operations of a business. And demands on the network have changed: New applications such as unified communications, video, and collaboration require the next generation of networks and security.
In keeping up with such regulations, last year Cisco announced the End of Sale of the Cisco PIX security products. Cisco has recently released a bulletin announcing the End of Software Maintenance for the Cisco PIX firewalls starting on July 28th, 2009. This is very important to note for organizations currently utilizing Cisco PIX firewalls because starting on July 28th, there will no longer be updates available for your device, thus exposing your network to any new threats and vulnerabilities.
Clients of River Run Computers who are currently utilizing the Cisco PIX firewall family of products will be contacted by their River Run Representative with different options on how to further protect your network from vulnerabilities.
