GLENDALE, WI – (April 1, 2019) – River Run, a managed IT service provider, will be attending the Wisconsin Veterans Business Conference on May 23rd from 9am-6pm at Potawatomi Hotel & Casino. River Run will have an exhibitor table at the Veteran Business Expo and attend the Conference Breakout Sessions. The Wisconsin Veterans Business Conference brings together veteran business owners, veterans-friendly businesses, and corporate leaders to recognize the contributions veterans make to Wisconsin’s economy and our communities.
“River Run joined the Wisconsin Veterans Chamber of Commerce this year, but we’re not new to hiring veterans,” says Stephanie Menge, Human Resources Officer. “They give us a competitive edge in team-building by adding new viewpoints and experience levels into our family. You can’t train that,” she adds. “Joshua Orlopp, our Apple Systems Administrator, is a veteran of the United States Navy. He will talk about his own experience to attendees,” she adds. Joshua motivated others to join the IT world and opened a new genre of people and businesses that River Run can support. River Run has hired four veterans so far and has plans to expand that.
The overall goal for River Run is to bring more veterans to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They are opening their doors to recruit more veterans. When veterans come back from active duty to civilian life, they can apply the skills they gained to jobs in our community. “Employers need to rethink veteran resumes. For example, you can take engineering or mechanical skills learned on a submarine and translate them into engineering skills needed for your company,” says Menge. “They work best in a team environment and we are very collaborative here,” she adds.
