HD DVD vs. Blu-ray: Is the contest over?

  
  
  
  
  

Last month, news came out that Warner Brothers has decided to abandon HD DVD and offer their high definition movies in Blu-ray format. Some are speculating that this makes Blu-ray the de facto winner of the high definition DVD competition.

Universal and Paramount still offer HD DVD disks, but Warner Brothers has a much larger catalog. Although HD DVD players are less expensive than Blu-ray, the latter has developed a large share of the market with Playstation 3 gaming consoles, which also doubles as Blu-ray players.
